This site references several different dictionary and
thesaurus sites. Extremely useful. Especially the thesaurus.
WordSmyth
This dictionary site gives you the usual definitions,
but also provides other activities, including crossword puzzle builders
and anagram help.

Ask Jeeves for Kids
This is a perfect search engine for starting out.
Monitors sites for both accuracy and acceptability. Another nice
thing about this site is it provides links to other helpful educational
resources, such as homework help and even clip art.

A less monitored and restricted version of Ask
Jeeves. A great intermediate search engine.
Google
A great search, but to use it you have to have a very
good idea of what you are looking for and a plan on how to find
it. It also provides an image search option, which should be used
with care.

This site not only provides dictionary and encyclopedic
sources, but it also has quotations and complete listings of some great
works of literature.

Online tool for researching bible verses -- search and
compare many different versions of the Bible.

A good place to go to find out general "tourist" type
information: Is it a safe place, what are the sites, where can people
stay and what is there to do.

More information on every country in the world than you
